Focusing on keeping music in Saginaw, the Classic Legacy Band consists of a wide variety of musicians from all around Michigan. These musicians focus one evening per week to perfecting an eclectic assortment of musical pieces in order to present lively and entertaining concerts throughout the year. Under the direction of David Fitts, the Classic Legacy Band caters its concerts to both young and old alike with everything from energetic marches to classical suites.
Previously known as the Honsinger Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Legacy Band was formed as a non-profit organization in 2005 after the untimely death of Wind Ensemble director and founder, Lloyd Honsinger. In keeping with Honsinger's wishes, the Wind Ensemble dissolved after his death, but its members remained adamant in maintaining a group that would maintain the high standards initially set by Mr. Honsinger. Under new direction and a new name, the group has reformed in an effort to continue providing the area musicians and Saginaw citizens with a place to play or listen to beautiful music.
